DISCONTINUANCE OF THE PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE ANNUAL EDITION OF THE NOTICES TO MARINERS, THE LIST OF LIGHTS PUBLICATIONS AND THE RADIO AIDS TO MARINE NAVIGATION ANNUAL PUBLICATION

Since April 1 2013, in an effort to adopt and focus on newer technologies, the Canadian Coast Guard
(CCG) has ceased the printing of its List of Lights book & Annual Edition of Notices to Mariners.
This publication will continue to be available free of charge and up-to-date on-line at: https://www.notmar.gc.ca.
The Notice to Mariners (NOTMAR) web site (https://www.notmar.gc.ca):
- delivers important safety - related information in a more efficient and timely manner
- meets the needs of mariners by providing a more personalized service
- is available 24/7
Allows mariners to access updates to their publications and is comprised of the following sections:
- Section 1: General and Safety Information
- Section 1A: Temporary and Preliminary Notices (new section added since 2021)
- Section 2: Chart Corrections
- Section 3: Radio Aids to Marine Navigation Corrections
- Section 4: Sailing Directions and Small Craft Guide Corrections
- Section 5: List of Lights, Buoys and Fog Signals Corrections
- The List of Lights (LL) publications are divided by sectors then areas. The LL on the NOTMAR web site are up to date with the latest monthly corrections.
- Corrections are advertised in the Section 5 of the monthly edition of Notices to Mariners.
- If users decide to print the publications, they will need to fill out the "Record of Changes to the List of Lights, Buoys and Fog Signals from the Monthly Edition of Notices to Mariners" found on page i of the List of Lights publication and update their paper version.
- The Annual Edition of Notices to Mariners publication is divided by notices.
- Corrections are advertised in Section 1 of the monthly edition of Notices to Mariners.
- If users decide to print the publications, they will need to fill out "Amendment Register" found on page i of the Annual Edition of Notices to Mariners and update their paper version.
Every ship station fitted on a Canadian ship or on a non-Canadian ship engaged in the coasting trade of Canada, pursuant to the Navigation Safety Regulations, 2020, and all ships in waters under Canadian Jurisdiction, pursuant to the Navigation Safety Regulations, 2020, are required to carry the most recent edition of the Radio Aids to Marine Navigation publication.
Since April 1, 2013, the Canadian Coast Guard has ceased the printing of its Radio Aids to Marine Navigation annual publications. The publication will continue to be available online, free of charge, at: Radio Aids to Marine Navigation (RAMN).
Beginning in 2021, the annual edition of the Radio Aids to Marine Navigation publication will be published in January, with amendments, if any, advertised in Section 3 of the Monthly Edition of Notices to Mariners. The Notices to Mariners publications are available online, free of charge, at: https://www.notmar.gc.ca.
