Waiver of Responsibility

Navigation Safety Regulations, 2020 made under the authority of the Canada Shipping Act, 2001, provide that carriage on board of the most recent editions of the charts and other nautical publications that are relevant to each area in which the ship is to be navigated, and their correction and updating based on information that is contained in the Notices to Mariners or Navigational Warning, are the obligation of the master and/or the owner of the ship.

Advisories, help features and other information provided in this website do not replace navigation courses and training, especially as far as the use, update and correction of charts and other nautical publications are concerned.

The users alone are responsible for the proper use of the features of this website and of the data provided in it, and of their own safety through proper navigation training and good seamanship practices.

It is the responsibility of the users to review the waiver of responsibility every time they use this site as clauses could be added or amended from time to time.

It is the responsibility of the users to keep the e-mail address of their NOTMAR account up to date. Should a registered email address become invalid, the Canadian Coast Guard holds the right to deactivate the user's account with no further notice, at the risk of the user.

His Majesty the King in Right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, accepts no responsibility or liability, being totally or in part, for any injury or death or any damage to any property, following an accident or an incident the cause of which is related to the use of this website and/or the data provided at notmar.gc.ca
